The Loop's Hipster Dining Hall
Featuring outposts from some of Chicago's most popular restaurants and food trucks, the Revival Food Hall puts a modern, thoughtful twist on the lunch hall experience. Perfect for an awesome weekday lunch, the chic, 24,000 sq. ft. downtown marketplace offers counter service from local favorites like Ahola Poke, Hot Chocolate Bakery, Smoque BBQ, Antique Taco, and Black Dog Gelato. To avoid the crowds and better find seating, head to Revival just before or just after the noon lunch rush.
Insider Tip: Go to the Revival Food Hall with a group so that you can taste dishes from as many places as possible (like the Budlong hot chicken sandwich and Brown Bag Seafood's daily special).
125 S Clark Street | A Fifteen Minute Walk from Kinzie Hotel | $5.00 - $7.00 Uber Ride
Chicago's Premier Old School Italian Experience
Other than a proper steakhouse meal, no dining experience embodies the spirit of old school Chicago quite like the original Rosebud on Taylor Street. The warm, inviting Italian restaurant serves up ridiculously good sausage and peppers, baked clams, and veal saltimbocca that are bound to strike a deep nostalgic cord. Even if it's your first visit, Rosebud has that familiar, welcoming, been-here-before feeling that embraces you as soon as you walk in the door.
Insider Tip: Save room for dessert. Tiramisu and espresso are a natural pairing, but you'll also find a great list of ports, scotches, and Italian digestivos.
1500 W Taylor Street | Three Miles from Kinzie Hotel | $9.00 - $12.00 Uber Ride
Magnificent Skyline Views
For great cocktails and picture-perfect city views, head up to The Signature Room at the 95th®. Located on the 95th Floor of the John Hancock building, you'll bask in unrivaled views of the skyline and lakefront in an upscale, one-of-a-kind space.
Insider Tip: Get to the Signature Room about an hour before sunset. By the time you settle into your second glass of wine, it will be time for the soft orange glow and silver glisten of the Chicago skyline.
875 N Michigan Avenue | A Nineteen Minute Walk from Kinzie Hotel | $5.00 - $7.00 Uber Ride
Chinatown's Hidden Gem
Tucked away on the second floor of Chinatown Square along Archer Avenue, Cai boasts some of Chinatown's very best food. The bustling Cantonese restaurant offers awesome dim sum in the afternoon and a giant menu of traditional dishes in the evening. If possible, go to Cai with a group and order as many shared dishes as possible.
Insider Tip: If you're there during dim sum hours, order the fried pork dumplings. They're crispy, sweet, and chewy and filled with meat and gravy. What's not to like?
2100 S Archer Avenue | A Fifteen Minute Red Line Trip from Kinzie Hotel | $8.00 - $11.00 Uber Ride
Tacos, Tequila, Repeat
Nothing says summer in Chicago quite like a few hours of whiskey, tacos, and sunshine on Big Star's bustling Wicker Park patio. With amazing pork belly tacos, old school honky tonk records filling the air, and the perfect vantage point for some top-notch people watching, Big Star has become an institution among Chicago's foodies, cocktail nerds, and hipster elite.
Insider Tip: There's no shame in ordering more tacos with every other round of drinks. With al pastor that good, it's nearly impossible to resist.
875 N Michigan Avenue | A Nineteen Minute Walk from Kinzie Hotel | $5.00 - $7.00 Uber Ride
Chicago's Fine Dining Whiskey Bar
One part corner bar, one part bourbon emporium, and one part creative Midwestern fare, Longman & Eagle combines the high end with the casual better than anyone else in Chicago (which says a lot). Located directly across the street from the Logan Square Blue Line stop, the Michelin starred restaurant serves up creative dishes like a savory foie gras carrot cake, a wild boar sloppy joe, and beef tallow beignets.
Insider Tip: They serve brunch daily, which features the city's very best chicken and waffles. After brunch, take a stroll down the neighborhood's scenic Logan Boulevard or pop into one of the acclaimed breweries or cocktail bars on Milwaukee Ave.
2657 N Kedzie Avenue | A Twenty Six Blue Line Trip from Kinzie Hotel | $11.00 - $14.00 Uber Ride
Dogs, Beef, and Beyond
There are few foods "more Chicago" than a dipped Italian beef with hot peppers or a fully-dressed, all beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun (no ketchup, of course). You'll find die-hard Al's fans and Portillo's loyalists, but honestly, both are incredible. Both restaurants have locations peppered throughout Chicagoland, but you'll have the most authentic experiences at Portillo's River North location and the original Al's on Taylor Street.
Insider Tip: Don't skip out on Al's hand cut fries for Portillo's legendary cake shake.
Portillo's: 100 W Ontario Street | A Nine Minute Walk from Kinzie Hotel | $4.00 - $5.00 Uber Ride
Al's Beef: 1079 W Taylor Street | 2.5 Miles from Kinzie Hotel | $8.00 - $11.00 Uber Ride
Best Spot for Authentic Thai Food
Located just off the Wellington Brown Line stop in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, Andy's Thai Kitchen serves up some of the city's very best authentic Thai food. The cozy, cash-only, BYOB spot features the usual suspects like Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice, but we recommend getting adventurous. Dishes like crispy onchoy, duck curry, and ground fish cakes strike the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, salty, crunchy, and funky. We'd eat there every day if we could.
Insider Tip: Order one of their papaya salads (som tum). They're refreshing, delicious, and exploding with flavor. Also, don't forget to BYO!
946 W Wellington Avenue | A Twenty Minute Brown Line Trip from Kinzie Hotel | $11.00 - $14.00 Uber Ride
